Fire tragedy in Istanbul: 15 dead

A fire broke out in a business on the bottom floor of a 16-storey building in Beşiktaş, killing 15 people and injuring 8 others, 7 of them seriously. Fire tragedy in Istanbul: 15 dead

A fire, thought to be caused by renovation, broke out in the entertainment venue on the ground floor of the 16-storey building located on Gayrettepe Mahallesi Yıldız Posta Caddesi.

Upon notification, fire, health and police teams were dispatched to the scene. While police teams took precautions in the neighborhood, the fire brigade started to intervene in the fire.

Fire brigades intervened with 31 vehicles and 86 personnel to the fire on the minus 1 and minus 2 floors of the building used as a club.

It was announced that 15 people lost their lives and 8 people were injured, 7 of them seriously.

The fire was extinguished with the intensive intervention of fire brigades. Istanbul Governorate announced that an investigation has been launched into the fire.

Istanbul Governor Davut Gül visited the scene after the fire and made investigations.

Gül said 23 people were affected by the fire, adding, “The cause of the fire is not clear. Our teams at the scene have been working from the first moment.”

President Erdoğan received information

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya by phone and received information about the fire in Istanbul Gayrettepe where 12 people lost their lives.
