Tens of thousands of people had problems accessing the services of internet giant Google due to a software update.
Downdetector, a website that reports interruptions in internet services, announced that users had problems accessing Google Maps.
In the US, more than 40,000 users reported service outages in several locations, including New York and Denver.
ThousandEyes said the outage affected the US, Australia, South Africa, Kenya, Israel, parts of South America, Europe and Asia.
About two hours later, a small number of people also reported problems with Google’s calendar and cloud storage systems.
The company spokesperson apologized, stating that this was a problem caused by a software update.
“We worked to resolve the issue quickly and our services are now back online,” the spokesperson said.
