North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un, 96-year-old Queen of England 2. He congratulated Elizabeth on the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne.

According to the Straits Times website, a statement from North Korea’s Foreign Ministry said, “On the occasion of your country’s National Day, Her Majesty’s official birthday, I congratulate you and your people.”

The message is said to be “the first public message Kim Jong-un has ever sent to the Queen.”

British officials said such a message had been sent before, while a database search revealed that it was the first time the message had appeared in the North Korean press.

While the 96-year-old Queen did not attend the parade, other members of the royal family greeted the public from the vehicles carrying them.
