In a meeting with government officials, Putin made assessments about the country’s economy.

Stating that Russia continues to work in the light of difficult external conditions, Putin said, “I am talking about global difficulties and sanctions pressure from Western countries. These sanctions trigger an extensive global crisis. The architects of these sanctions, which have a narrow outlook, political ambitions and Russophobia, are harming their own national interests and economies,” he said.

Pointing out that inflation in Europe has risen sharply, Putin said, “In some countries, it has reached 20 percent on an annual basis. “The continued obsession with sanctions will have very tough and challenging consequences for the European Union and poor countries that are already at risk of famine by their citizens.”

  • Citizens’ savings are decreasing

Pointing to Western countries as the main culprits of the situation, Putin said, “I emphasize that the culprit of this situation lies entirely in the elites of Western countries who are ready to sacrifice the rest of the world to maintain their global dominance.”

Stating that they expect a good harvest in the agricultural sector this year, Putin said, “130 million grain harvests, 87 million tons of which are wheat, can be reached. This will be the highest figure in the history of Russia. This will allow us both to meet Russia’s domestic demand and to increase our supply to our global partners.”

Putin said that domestic demand in the Russian economy lagged behind last year, adding, “In addition, funds in the accounts of companies and citizens are also decreasing. It is clear that these have a negative impact on the course of the economy and such risks need to be reduced.”
