The second SOAS scandal: Graduates of the University of Texas Bush School of Espionage!

Graduates of the University of Texas Bush School of Espionage!

Two years ago, I warned that MI6, the British intelligence agency, might be using graduates from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in Turkey. I cautioned that Turkish authorities, particularly the National Intelligence Organization (MİT), should be vigilant about this possibility.

However, I’m unsure if my warning was ever addressed or if it had any impact.

For better clarity, I’ve also added the full name of MI6 and explained the abbreviation for MİT.

Perhaps some bureaucrats at many critical points may have ignored/suspended the matter out of concern that it may touch them as well, since they have been through this training. In our country, they say “the sin is on your neck”. Exactly so.

British intelligence MI-6’s training base is the School of Oriental and African Studies. SOAS University of London conducts covert espionage activities under the name of one of the world’s academic centers for Middle Eastern studies. Established to train people for roles in British Colonial rule, the university known as SOAS (formerly the School of Oriental and African Studies) was founded in 1916 to train British security forces serving for MI6 and MI5.

The UK Ministry of Defense (MOD), Foreign Office and intelligence agencies are sending their personnel to SOAS for training. The fact that many master’s and doctoral students from Turkey, intentionally or unintentionally, find their way here is not encouraging. Because, as I have repeatedly stated, they are being trained as spies for the British colonial kingdom. Shame on those who are responsible!

Bush School was added to the spy schools after SOAS!…

On this subject, in the 2nd issue in 2023 of the “Journal of Intelligence Studies and Research” published by the “Association of the Research Center for Combating Terrorism and Radicalization” established in Ankara in 2022, Serhat Erkmen’s article “Teaching Intelligence Studies in Higher Education: Models, Cases, Curricula / Intelligence Studies in Higher Education: Models, Cases, Cirruculas” contains important information.

With the end of World War II, the United States, which incorporated German intelligence cadres into its own structure, put into operation the most important intelligence schools of the Cold War period under the guidance of Reinhard Gehlen. In this context, it allocated the University of Austin Texas, founded in 1883, to train academics to be employed in the universities of allied countries in line with US interests.

The Bush School of Government & Public Service at Texas A&M University welcomed students from Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

The university offers more than 140 undergraduate degrees and nearly 270 graduate and professional degrees through campus locations and schools across the country and around the world.

The Bush School is located in the Robert H. ’50 and Judy Ley Allen Building adjacent to the George Bush Presidential Library on the West Campus of Texas A&M University. The George Bush Presidential Library opened its doors in 1997 on 90 acres (36 hectares; 0.14 square miles) of land donated by Texas A&M at the west end of campus.

In 1995, Dr. Charles F. Hermann was hired as Founding Director for the construction of the Bush School.

Dr. Charles F. Hermann

Currently, Dr. Hermann teaches courses on American foreign policy, international politics and foreign policy analysis at the Bush School. The first students began taking classes in Fall 1997. The school was originally a division of the College of Liberal Arts, but became an independent college within Texas A&M University in 2000.

To date, the Bush School has produced more than 3,000 graduates who have gone on to careers in the intelligence profession…

The A&M Bush School of Government and Public Service offers on-site or distance learning National Security and Intelligence courses designed for early-career professionals who want to prepare for a career in the US intelligence agencies (NSA, CIA, FBI, DIA, MI, NGA, etc.).

Many academics from Turkey have also been involved in training programs at the University of Texas at different dates, mostly in computer, program and technology and biological subjects. It is also known that these students were taught courses on American foreign policy, international politics in theory and practice, the role of intelligence in global economics and security affairs, and manipulation.

The Bush School has always had the full support of whoever was the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). In his article dated July 14, 2023, British intelligence officer/journalist Chase Lawrence wrote: “The case of Texas A&M: A university integrated into the military-intelligence apparatus”.

The total number of students at Texas A&M University is almost 75,000. As a top military university, it has historically produced “more officers/officers than any other institution in the country except the academies”. That is why the Texas A&M University Student Association, which works with the US Armed Forces Reserve Officers’ Training Corps, was founded 145 years ago, in 1876.

The oldest student organization on campus. Texas A&M remains one of only six top-tier military colleges, and the Corps is the largest uniformed body outside the national service academies. As such, it has historically produced more officers than any other institution other than academies in the country. About 2,500 cadets join Texas A&M’s Corp of Cadets program each year, and about 45 percent of them follow commissions in the Armed Forces. Until 1960, cadets were required to join the Corps.

Ten generals, including eight Air Force generals, received their degrees from Texas A&M University. Among the most recent are four-star General Stephen W. Wilson (retired in 2020) and Marine Corps General Eric Smith.

A significant number of senior Naval and Air Force officers came from A&M. Texas A&M’s integration into the US military-intelligence apparatus reached a new peak in 1998, when former CIA Director Robert Gates became dean of the Bush School and then president of the entire university in 2002.

Elected president of Texas A&M University on December 12, 2023, Mark Welsh III was appointed acting president in 2016, the same year that the American multinational aerospace and defense technology company Northrop Grumman Corporation announced that it had elected him to its board of directors.

Mark Welsh

Welsh served as Chief of Staff of the US Air Force, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under Barack Obama, and was also the commander of the US Air Force in Europe, where he had authority over more than a fifth of the world’s airspace, then Deputy Director for Military Affairs of the Central Intelligence Agency.

A school for military research and spies.

Texas A&M is part of a network of universities involved in the production of critical systems for US war plans, including semiconductors as well as systems for delivering nuclear warheads.

A massive military research complex known as the “George H.W. Bush Combat Development Complex” is being built on the university campus. The complex includes “a proving ground for autonomous air, ground and underground [military] vehicles” and a “state-of-the-art innovation center where researchers, students, industry, government and the military collaborate to create new technologies that will enable modernization.”

In addition to the military, it is a center for “hypersonic and directed energy research, i.e. laser weapons”, part of the “one-of-a-kind Ballistics, Aero-optics and Materials (BAM) Series”. Clearly, A&M functions as a center for the research necessary to wage US imperialism’s war and train its military leadership. But the same can be said of its relationship with the intelligence agencies.

The spy school is run by a woman!…

The Bush School is one of the top 25 graduate schools in public affairs for 2023. It has a branch in Washington DC. Some of its alumni include Kathryn Kaufman, Executive Director of Global Women’s, a longtime senior advisor to the CIA’s front line, the US Agency for International Development (USAID), and an active board member of College Bound and the American Institute Foreign Studies board.

A board member of Exponent, College Bound, and the American Institute for Foreign Service, Kathryn Kaufman has a background in national security policy and was a member of the strategy and policy-making team at the Department of Defense, where she served as country director for China and Taiwan on the Department of Defense’s Asia Pacific desk.

Sexual, ethnic, cultural and theological identity politics on the axis of anti-Russianism and Putinophobia…

The Bush School, like the CIA, is a major producer of identity politics, training its corporate coordinators and implementers of human rights imperialism.

Isn’t it better understood which global power is behind ethnic and sexual terrorism in Turkey?

The Department of International Relations at the Bush School also runs a program on Women, Peace and Security (WPS).

The Women Stats Project is funded by the US Department of Defense. “Women Stats calls for the impeachment, arrest and prosecution of President Putin of the Russian Federation for “sexual violence” against women. In Turkey, for example, this project is being monitored at Ankara Social Sciences University; there is even an academic in charge of the project.

The Bush School is full of intelligence agents.

They include Michael W. Howell, a 23-year FBI veteran, Katherine T. Weary, a “former” NSA intelligence analyst, and Matt Gill, now a senior advisor to US Army intelligence leaders. The school’s director, Greg Vogle, a 30-year employee of the CIA, has led “numerous paramilitary officers in conflict zones around the world.”

Greg Vogle, who was awarded the Distinguished Intelligence Cross, served as Deputy Commander of the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) and Deputy Director for CIA Operations, managing billions of dollars.

The integration of Texas A&M University into the war orientation of American imperialism deserves the attention of all students. While A&M is not unique, it represents an important node for military-university collaboration, research and recruitment.

Tremendous pressure is and will increasingly be brought to bear on college and university campuses to provide researchers, officers and recruits as fodder for the war machine. A&M has a special connection to the Pentagon and the intelligence apparatus in this regard.

Veteran CIA Agent Professor James Olson, the theoretician of the Bush School of Espionage.

James Olson

Professor James Olson joined the Bush School of Government and Public Service in 1997 after a 31-year career as a CIA agent.

Olson grew up in West Des Moines and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1969 with a law degree. He served in the Navy and planned to practice law in a small town after graduation. Although he was not familiar with the CIA, he was recruited to join and went through a screening process. Eventually, he accepted a position with the secret service, which secretly collects information and secrets from other countries.

Olson said he couldn’t see himself as a spy for more than a couple of years, and he doesn’t think he went back to his original plan afterward. Joining the CIA also introduced Olson to his future wife Meredith, who was already working as an agent when he started.

The two worked undercover together, focusing on gathering intelligence on the Soviet KGB during the Cold War, but also on China, Cuba, North Korea and Iran.

He worked full-time in the field – as a banker, journalist or embassy diplomat. Many of Olson’s former students have gone on to careers in the CIA, FBI, State Department and Pentagon. The disguise began before they left school, Olson says.

Olson teaches courses in intelligence, counterintelligence, national security, counterterrorism and international crisis management: His students say he uses his own anecdotes and has them practice role-playing scenarios in class. He uses his long career as a CIA secret agent to teach intelligence. His specialty is being anti-Soviet and anti-Russian.

Student interest was strong and over 300 graduates successfully completed the program. Today, the program is considered a top school for US intelligence agencies, providing opportunities for the discussion and retention of classified information as well as practitioner expertise for the CIA, FBI, NSA and the US military.

What makes the Bush School different is its focus on practitioner-based teaching. With a professional focus on intelligence courses, the school trusted that the courses were best taught by intelligence career professionals.

The Robertson Foundation provides scholarships to school students. The Robertson Foundation was established in 1996 by Tiger Management founder Julian H. Robertson Jr. and his wife Josie and family. In addition to individual donations, they have supported a number of charitable organizations through the Robertson Foundation and other affiliated foundations (Tiger Foundation, Aotearoa Foundation and Blanche and Julian Robertson Family Foundation).

Ryan Crocker is Dean and Executive Professor at the George Bush School. He works in the Department of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University and speaks Turkish. He served a term in Turkey.

Steven Horowitz, also a nuclear engineer in Sandia National Laboratories’ International Nuclear Safety Engineering department, has worked for the Federation of American Scientists and at NextEra Energy’s Turkey Point nuclear power plant.

Does the school accept students from Turkey?

According to statistics, more than 10 thousand Turkish students are currently studying in the US. More than 3 thousand of them are undergraduate students. In 2021, Turkey ranked 7th in the list of countries sending students to the US. These students provide a total income of over 515 million dollars to the American economy.

The University of Texas accepts academics from the faculties of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine rather than Social Sciences.

The number of participants in research programs at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, especially from Ankara, is remarkable. God knows what brainwashing operations they were subjected to there?

Turkey’s intelligence units should identify whoever was involved in this process in the fields of medicine, pharmacy, physics, chemistry, veterinary medicine.

Otherwise, some of them who have been trained by US intelligence officers are unpredictable. Don’t you see that every day Mossad agents are caught in cooperation with MIT and the Police…

These are the tip of the iceberg. Do you think that the Ancient Turkish State is asleep? The State knows both its dog and its horse. It ties its dog and shoes its horse when necessary.

Other organizations are also under the auspices of the University of Texas Bush School. For example, one of the surprise guests of the Istanbul Security Conference 2019, organized by TASAM National Defense and Security Institute (MSGE) with the main theme of “New World Economy and Security Architecture” on 06-08 November 2019, was Prof. Christopher LAYNE from the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas Bush A&M University.

Some people claim that some Academic Staff and Students who have somehow passed through the University of Texas have been engaged in the system and evaluated as “Case Officers”, i.e. “Field Officers” or “Case Officers” within the universities in the capital Ankara. The claimant is obliged to prove his claim.

In short, every academic, student and bureaucrat in Turkey who has ever been to SAOS or the Bush School should be scrutinized. Otherwise, we will be undermined a little more every day. This is a security issue. Attention to those who received certificates from the A&M Bush School of Government and Public Service!
