GREAT-GRANDFATHERS ARE THE SAME
Dickinson, who lived between 1830 and 1886, is known for poems such as ‘Hope, That Hairy Thing’, in which she depicts death as a carriage driver. According to Ancestry, Swift and Dickinson are descended from a 17th century English immigrant. Swift’s 9th great-grandfather and Dickinson’s 6th great-grandfather were among the first to settle in Windsor, Connecticut. Swift’s 2020 album ‘Evermore’ was announced on December 10, Dickinson’s birthday. At the time, some argued that the title of the album came from Dickinson’s poem ‘One Sister Have I in Our House’.
Swift referred to Dickinson at an award given by the Nashville Songwriters Association International. Previously, Shakespeare expert Sir Jonathan Bate had compared Taylor Swift to Shakespeare and described the artist as ‘a true bard’.
