A tomb estimated to be more than 1300 years old has been found in the Central American country of Panama.
Linette Montenegro, National Director of Cultural Heritage at Panama’s Ministry of Culture, told the press that a pre-Hispanic tomb was found during excavations at the El Cano archaeological site in Cocle province.
“We discovered a tomb estimated to be more than 1300 years old. Two bodies, dowry belonging to a bride, some gold, ceramics, five breast belts, gold beads, four bracelets, earrings, a gold-plated bag and various necklaces were recovered from the tomb,” Montenegro said.
Montenegro said they believe the tomb belonged to the ruler of the time.
Archaeological excavations have been ongoing in the area since 2008.
