Ti West’s A24 slasher films “X” and “Pearl”, released in 2022, managed to please horror fans. The prequel film “Pearl”, which was shot in secret and the first trailer was released alongside “X”, even managed to get praise from master director Martin Scorsese.
Next up is the final movie in the trilogy, “MaXXXine”. After a teaser trailer at the end of “Pearl” got fans excited, there were no further details about the movie. Now, however, Deadline is reporting that “MaXXXine” will hit theaters in America on July 5, 2024.
Starring trilogy star Mia Goth, the film’s plot details are not yet known. It is only known that the movie takes place in the aftermath of the events of “X”, in which Goth’s character Maxine survives a Texas Chainsaw-style massacre and kills her haunting mirror image Pearl.
The movie also takes us back to the 80s, a new decade at the height of the VHS boom. After these horrible events and a childhood in which “X” implied that there was nothing rosy about it, Maxine finally made it big in the Hollywood spotlight. Something Pearl could never have achieved.
This time Goth will be joined by a star-studded cast including Halsey, Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Monaghan, Kevin Bacon, Giancarlo Esposito and Lily Collins.
Another detail that sets the movie apart from the previous entries in the series is that this slasher will be framed in the classic police procedural murder mystery mold. Slasher fans of the late 90s and early 2000s are sure to enjoy Maxine’s next nightmare.
