In a statement made by Google, it was reported that the Gemma model family was created with the same research and technology as the artificial intelligence chatbot Gemini and has a state-of-the-art open source model.

The new model, developed by DeepMind and other teams at Google, is inspired by Gemini, the statement said, adding that tools to support developer innovation, encourage collaboration and guide responsible use of Gemma models have also been published.

In the statement, it was stated that Gemma is available worldwide as of today and information about the model was given.

In the statement, it was noted that the model was released in two sizes, Gemma 2B and Gemma 7B, and it was emphasized that the “Responsible Productive AI Toolkit” provides guidance for creating safer artificial intelligence applications with Gemma.

This month, Google renamed its AI chatbot Bard to “Gemini” and launched a paid subscription for the new version “Gemini Advanced”.

Some important characteristics of Gemma are:

  • Light and fast: Gemma models require fewer parameters and processing power compared to other open source models. This makes them faster and less costly.
  • Cutting-edge technology: Gemma models are developed based on the latest research from Google AI. This makes them equipped with the latest technology.
  • Wide range: Gemma models can be used for a variety of tasks. These include natural language processing, computer vision, robotics and more.
  • Open source: Gemma models are licensed under the Apache 2.0 license. This means that anyone can use and modify them for free.
  • The potential benefits of Gemma include:
  • Accelerating AI research: Gemma models can make it easier for researchers to develop and test new AI algorithms and models.
  • Facilitating AI development: Gemma models can help developers build AI-based applications and services faster and more easily.
  • Increasing access to AI: Gemma models can make AI technology available to a wider audience, enabling more people to benefit from it.
