According to a statement by White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre, US President Biden was briefed on the drone strike by Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and Deputy National Security Advisor Jon Finer.

Stating that they are still gathering information about the attack, Biden said, “We know that this was carried out by radical Iranian-backed militant groups operating in Syria and Iraq.”

Noting that those responsible for the attack will be held to account in the time and manner the US will choose, Biden emphasized that they will continue to fight this war.

In a written statement made by the US Central Command (CENTCOM), it was stated that 3 US soldiers were killed and 25 people were wounded as a result of a one-way drone attack in northeast Jordan.
