Mykhailo Podolyak, advisor to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy, said Iran was responsible for the killing of Ukrainians after Russia attacked Ukrainian cities with Iranian-made armed unmanned aerial vehicles (UCAVs) on Monday.
Ukraine has reported a series of Russian attacks in recent weeks using Iranian-made Shahed-136 UCAVs, known as ‘kamikaze’ drones.
Iran has denied supplying these UCAVs to Russia, while the Kremlin has not commented.
Podolyak said on Twitter today, “Iran is responsible for the massacre of Ukrainians. The country that persecuted its own people is now arming the Russians to carry out mass killings in the heart of Europe. These are the consequences of unfinished business and concessions to an authoritarian regime. This is a situation where sanctions are not enough.”
Russian drone strikes this morning targeted vital facilities in 3 regions of Ukraine.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said the strikes caused power outages in hundreds of towns, including the capital Kiev.
The Russian Defense Ministry also announced that military sites and energy infrastructure in Ukraine were targeted with precision weapons today.
The ministry also said that Russian forces had managed to counter counter-attack attempts in Kherson.
