Will the much-anticipated “edit button” bring Twitter order or chaos? The huge IT company wants to know.
The “edit button” change, which Twitter describes as their “most requested feature to date,” will formally begin testing this month. According to the company’s release, tweets will be allowed to be modified a few times during the first 30 minutes after being posted.

An indicator and a date are added to a tweet after it has been amended to let other users know that the original text has been changed. Additionally, it will have a label that will enable users to view the Tweet’s Edit History, which contains previous iterations of the Tweet.
The “Edit Tweet” function is now being evaluated by their internal team and will be made available to Twitter Blue subscribers later this month. The test will eventually be extended to a single nation so Twitter can assess how users interact with the edit button on a broad scale.
“As with any new functionality, we’re purposefully testing Edit Tweet with a smaller group in order to collect feedback and spot and address any potential problems. Included in this is the potential for abuse of the feature. Never err on the side of caution “On September 1, Twitter stated in a blog post.
The tech behemoth continued, “We’ll also be paying careful attention to how the functionality changes the way people read, compose, and engage with Tweets.”
