The US-based company announced that Gigafactory Shanghai has produced its 1 millionth electric car. Tesla has thus reached an important milestone in its new global export center despite all the problems. It is considered a great success that the facility, which started production in December 2019, reached this production figure in just 3 years.

Just two years after starting production, Gigafactory Shanghai is by far the largest and most efficient electric vehicle factory in the world. The plant continues to grow, ending 2021 with annual production of more than 800,000 vehicles.
Earlier this month, Tesla announced that Tesla had produced its 3 millionth car. Just a few weeks ago, Tesla’s Fremont factory reached a total of two million production. Gigafactory Shanghai reached 1 million production units much faster.
Tesla plans to increase the production speed a little more in this factory. The company aims to reach 1 million vehicles per year in its Shanghai facilities. The factory is expected to reach this production rate towards the end of this year.
Gigafactory Shanghai currently only produces Model 3 and Model Y vehicles. However, we can already say that the factory will host more vehicles in the coming years. Tesla aims to increase total production to 20 million units by the 2030s. It is stated that Gigafactories in Texas and Berlin will play an important role on the way to this goal.
Despite the pandemic troubles at Tesla, things seem to be going well in Shanghai. So what do you think about Tesla electric vehicles? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section.
