Tesla boss Elon Musk stated on Tuesday that the company will start production of a new and more affordable model “in early 2025, if not at the end of this year”. Previously, Elon Musk had pointed to the end of 2025. In other words, the company is accelerating its projects in this field.
This statement came along with Tesla’s latest quarterly figures. In the first quarter of the year, the electric carmaker generated two billion dollars less revenue than in the previous year’s quarter, and the company’s turnover was $ 21.3 billion. In the previous quarter, this figure was 25.2 billion dollars. In the last quarter, it was announced that the company made a profit of 1.1 billion dollars. The decline in this area was 55% compared to the same period of the previous year.
Tesla awaits robot taxis
The electric carmaker also previewed the ride-sharing option in its app. Musk has previously stated that we could see the company’s first robot taxi on the roads in August and that it will start accepting passengers. Of course, the company will first need to convince the authorities that the vehicles are safe.
As we see in the application, Tesla’s application will not be very different. Features that are standard in ride-sharing applications, such as the route of the vehicle that will pick up the passenger and waiting time, will also appear in this application.
