Microsoft and Sony’s collaboration with AMD has yielded very satisfying results. In particular, the RDNA2 GPU units of the chips in these consoles brought performance above expectations with the optimization of the companies.

In this context, we are likely to see new consoles in the last quarter of 2023. However, it is said that if problems like the chip crisis in the market continue, there is a strong possibility that it may be delayed to the first quarter of 2024.
When we look at the new devices, Sony will head directly to the Pro instead of the Slim model. In other words, PlayStation 5 Pro will appear first. Because it does not seem possible to make thin cased models of these devices without significantly increasing the cost or limiting the performance.
At least today’s technology requires this. Of course, after 2-3 years, it can be done using a different chip with much lower power consumption and close performance. But for now, the goal is higher performance. So much so that it is claimed that they will provide 8K image output. However, the main focus will be 4K support for all games.
On the Microsoft side, the release date of the new consoles is quite close. However, it is said that the hardware of the existing ones will be strengthened rather than a new model. And not only the high-performance Series X, but also the S model. So we can see them introduced one after the other as in 2020.
