A British mountaineer who was climbing Broad Peak in the Karakorum Mountains in northern Pakistan has fallen to his death.
The climber, whose name has not yet been determined, fell to his death while climbing to the summit at an altitude of 8,51 meters.
George, a Romanian citizen who climbed to the same summit, is fighting for his life due to dehydration and exhaustion.
On the other hand, 61-year-old climber Richard Cartier disappeared while descending from Mount K2 at an altitude of 8,611 meters and has not been found for 2 days despite search and rescue efforts.
The Gilgit-Baltistan region is home to 6 peaks above 8,000 meters, including K2, the second highest mountain in the world.
Mountaineer Ali Sadpara, Pakistan’s national hero, Icelander Jon Snorri and Chilean Juan Pablo Mohr died in February 2021 while attempting to climb K2.
