It has been revealed that a new decision has been made in the long-standing uncertainty between Google and Tinder. Match Group, the developer of apps like Tinder, OkCupid and Hinge, may be removed from the Play Store for good.

Will Google kick Tinder owner Match Group out of the Play Store?

Tensions between the dating app giant and Google continue to escalate. Google has claimed that Match Group is taking unfair advantage of its apps and not paying the Play Store in return.

In an infringement case with the developer of Tinder, Google has asked for permission to remove Match Group from the Play Store. The software giant also sought monetary damages, targeting the unfair profits of apps like Tinder, OkCupid and Hinge.

First, last May, Match Group filed a lawsuit against Google. Saying that the Play Store had become a monopoly for Android and that apps were following suit, Match refused to use Google’s in-app payment system.

The developer also said Google’s commissions were “exorbitant”. However, Google responded by filing a lawsuit against the rumors, saying that these allegations are not true and that they apply the same rules to all developers.

Previously, Spotify and Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite, had also taken Google and Apple to task over similar allegations. It should be noted that these two companies receive between 15 and 30 percent commission from applications.

The future of Tinder and other dating apps owned by Match Group is uncertain for now. However, the company did not neglect to remind that Match Group had previously signed a contract with them.
