Popular social media platform Reddit continues to invest in machine learning projects. According to the latest announcement from the company, it has acquired MeaningCloud, a natural language processing company, for an undisclosed price.

Reddit acquires natural language processing company MeaningCloud
Reddit is one of the leading companies expanding its machine language ambitions. MeaningCloud, which specializes in extracting meaning from unstructured content, was known for analyzing conversations on Reddit.
Founded in 2015, the Spain-based company works on classifying unstructured data. The MeaningCloud algorithm, which already offers suggestions to users on the Reddit interface, can evaluate web content thanks to natural language processing.
The acquisition will also enable Reddit to enter the European market. The platform, which will have an office in Spain, is popular in countries like the US and Canada. But the investment in the natural language processing company will allow it to expand into other languages.
Reddit VP of Data Jack Hanlon said the following about the deal:
“MeaningCloud helps strengthen the Reddit platform by helping our community get the relevant information they’re looking for even faster. With the addition of MeaningCloud’s technology, we can continue our mission to provide simpler, richer, and more relevant content to our users. We’re excited to welcome the talented MeaningCloud team to Reddit.
Reddit has recently made some remarkable strides in machine learning. In the past few months, the platform launched Explore, a personalized interface that offers users custom content.
