Gazprom announced that natural gas shipments to the Netherlands were completely stopped on the grounds that they had not made the necessary payment in rubles. Gazprom had previously halted gas shipments to Poland, Bulgaria and Finland for the same reason.
In a written statement from the Russian energy company Gazprom, it was stated that the Dutch natural gas company GasTerra did not make the necessary payment in rubles for the shipment of Russian gas. Pointing out that payments for Russian gas should be made in rubles as of April 1, the statement said that gas shipments to the Netherlands, which did not make the payment, were completely stopped today.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
GasTerra said yesterday that Gazprom’s suspension of supply between May 31 and October 1, when the current contract expires, means that 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas will not be taken.
Gazprom had previously halted gas shipments to Poland, Bulgaria and Finland for failing to pay in rubles.
