Statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry on NATO exercises: 'They will not succeed'

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zaharova called NATO exercises as elements of hybrid warfare against Russia, stressing that they are trying to put pressure on Russia, but they will not succeed.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mariya Zaharova said that NATO is trying to put pressure on Russia by organizing exercises near Russia’s borders, including Steadfast Defender, in order to draw Russia into an arms race and curb its military potential, but they will not succeed.

In her statement, Zaharova said that they are monitoring NATO’s ongoing maneuvers and underlined that the rhetoric and training of NATO armies are elements of the hybrid war against Russia.

Zaharova made the following statements in her statement:

They are trying to put pressure on the Russian Federation, to drag our state into an arms race, to put shackles on Russia’s combat capabilities and to force Russia to abandon the achievement of the goals of the special military operation. They will not succeed. We have sufficient forces and means to ensure Russia’s security and protect its interests in all directions.
