The statement said that the two ministers exchanged views on regional threats and “Iran‘s destabilizing actions in the Middle East” and that Austin stressed the importance of increasing and maintaining the flow of humanitarian aid to Gazan civilians, including through the new route at Ashdod Port.
The meeting between the two ministers came after it was announced that Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has set a date to enter Rafah, a city in southern Gaza where some 1.5 million displaced Palestinians have taken refuge.
