Speaking to the Iraqi official news agency INA, Minister of Transportation Rezzak al-Sadawi announced that the airspace was closed to all flights.
All flights in the country have also been suspended, the minister said.
In a statement made by the Civil Aviation Authority, it was reported that the closure of Iraqi airspace was temporary and precautionary.
The statement said that the airspace was closed to all incoming and outgoing flights until 05.30 a.m. and that this could be extended depending on the situation.
The Israeli military announced that Iran had launched a drone attack and that the Israeli air and naval forces were monitoring the drones.
