In a statement made by the Russian Defense Ministry, Shoigu held a telephone conversation with Lecornu upon the “insistent request” of the French side.
“At the same time, Lecornu tried to convince that Ukraine and Western countries were not involved in the terrorist attack by placing the responsibility on (terrorist organization) DAESH,” the statement said, adding that Lecornu expressed condolences over the terrorist attack on the “Crocus Hall City” concert hall in Moscow.

Russian Minister Shoigu emphasized that the investigation into the terrorist attack will be completed and those responsible will be punished, the statement said, adding that there is information about Ukraine’s involvement in the organization of the terrorist attack.
In the statement, Shoigu told his French counterpart Lecornu, “The Kiev regime does nothing without the approval of Western curators. We hope that French intelligence is not behind this in this incident.”
In the statement, which stated that the Ukrainian issue was also discussed during the meeting, “Regarding the Elysee Palace’s statements about sending French troops to Ukraine, Sergey Shoigu stated that if they are implemented in practice, this will create problems for France itself.”
“The Istanbul Peace Initiative can be used as a starting point for dialogue on Ukraine,” the statement said. There is no point in holding a meeting in Geneva without Russia’s participation.”
On the other hand, in the statement made by the French Defense Ministry regarding the meeting, it was noted that Lecornu told his Russian counterpart about the terrorist attack on the concert hall, saying that “France has no information that would cause a link between this attack and Ukraine” and asked Russia to stop exploiting this situation.
