An anti-Israel demonstration was organized in Tehran after the death of Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahidi, Brigadier General Mohammad Hadi Haj Rahimi, one of the commanders of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), and 5 officials in an airstrike against the Iranian Consulate in the Syrian capital Damascus.
Hundreds of Iranians gathered in Tehran, chanting slogans such as ‘Death to the US’ and ‘Death to Israel’ and calling for revenge.
The demonstrators, who claimed that the US was behind the attacks, demanded that the attack on the embassy should be responded in the same way as the attack on the embassy.
Reacting to the attack, the demonstrators often chanted ‘Missile against missile’ and said that missiles should be fired at Israel.
Demonstrators carrying Palestinian and Hezbollah flags were seen holding symbolic funerals of children.
Airstrike on the Iranian Consulate in Damascus
The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps announced in a statement that 7 officials, including Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahidi and Brigadier General Mohammad Hadi Haj Rahimi, were killed in an Israeli missile attack on Iran’s consulate building in the Damascus Embassy compound.
Israel has not officially claimed responsibility for the attack on the Iranian consulate building in Damascus.
