TAI Engine Industries (TEI), Turkey’s leading engine manufacturer, will perform depot-level maintenance and overhaul of the US Navy’s LM2500 Gas Turbines. As part of the agreement signed with GE Marine in 2023, TEI took its first step towards becoming a global maintenance, repair and overhaul center for LM2500 engines.
According to a statement released by the US Department of Defense, TEI will perform 14 months of depot-level maintenance and overhaul services for the LM2500 engines used by the US Navy under the agreement, which will run until October 2026. The LM2500, a derivative of the TF39 and CF6-6 aviation engines, is one of the world’s most preferred naval gas turbines.
With these maintenance and overhaul services to be carried out at TEI’s facilities in Eskişehir, TEI will prove that it has a global claim not only for aviation engines, but also for aviation engine derivative gas turbine maintenance activities. The deal has a ceiling value of USD 45.6 million.
TAI owns 50.5 percent of TEI’s shares, while 3.3 percent are held by TAFF and THK, and 46.2 percent by the US company General Electric.
