It has been announced that Meta will temporarily shut down its text-based Threads, a competitor to Twitter, now known as X.
The company announced that it will temporarily suspend its operations in Turkey as of April 29 to comply with the Turkish Competition Authority’s interim order.
Last month, the Competition Authority imposed an administrative fine of TRY 4.8 million per day in its investigation against Meta Platforms and decided to impose a temporary injunction to prevent data aggregation behavior that may occur as a result of the data transfer mechanism between Instagram and Threads.
Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp or any other Meta app operating in Turkey will not be affected, the statement said.
