At the daily press briefing, US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller commented on how the US would respond to the attack on its base.
Stating that (US President Joe) Biden’s administration has drawn a road map on the response to the attack on the American base on the Syrian-Jordanian border, Miller emphasized that they do not aim to increase tension in the region.

Miller said, “The US response will not be escalatory. Our actions to date have been in defense of US troops, not to escalate tensions. We believe that increasing tensions in the region will not benefit anyone.”
Miller stated that the spread of conflicts in the Middle East would not serve American interests and argued that it was not in Iran’s interests either.
Emphasizing that they will continue to protect their troops, allies and interests in the region, the US spokesperson noted that they will also continue to take military steps with caution.
Three US soldiers were killed and more than 40 wounded in a kamikaze drone attack on the US military base on the Jordan-Syria border on January 28.
US officials, including Biden, have blamed Iranian-backed groups for the attack and stated that the US would respond to the attack at a time and place of its choosing.
