TikTok has shut down the account of a 16-year-old user, Eva, after deeming her videos of acne to be ‘horrifying content’.
Eva, who lives in Yorkshire, England, said the decision made her more determined to challenge perceptions about the common skin condition, adding: “Just because you have acne doesn’t mean you’re not beautiful.”
Eva said that she has suffered from acne for more than two years and that it initially made her feel sad and unwilling to leave the house, adding: “I had pimples really all over my face, from my cheeks all the way down to my chin. And it was really hard to cover up.”
But her first account was deleted without warning for not following the company’s rules.
“I didn’t let it get me down and the next day I created the account again and made it even better,” Eva told the BBC.
