In Düsseldorf, Germany, Christmas markets in the city center were closed for security purposes after police received a threatening message against a marketplace.

German media claimed that a person threatened to drive a truck into the Christmas market in the area where the city hall is located. It was stated that the police were on the scene and there was no negative situation so far.

Earlier, the roads leading to the Christmas market at Alexanderplatz Square in the capital Berlin were closed to traffic by the police following a report that a person was planning to drive his car into the crowd. After about three hours, it was reported that there was no danger to the marketplace.

On the other hand, 12 people were killed in Berlin in 2016 when a person drove a stolen truck into a crowded Christmas market.
