Technology billionaire Elon Musk said he would support Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis if he announces his candidacy in the US presidential elections in 2024.

When asked on Twitter if he would support DeSantis, Musk replied “Yes”.

Twitter CEO stated that he could not find the ideal candidate he was looking for in the Democratic Party and used the following statements:

In the 2024 presidential elections, I would prefer someone who is centrist and reasonable. I had hoped that someone like this would come out of the Biden administration, but so far I have been disappointed.

Musk also said in June that he could support DeSantis.

The billionaire also reminded that he voted for Democratic candidates such as US President Joe Biden and former leader Barack Obama in previous elections.

On November 20, Musk also reopened former US President Donald Trump’s Twitter account, which was shut down after a Congressional raid on January 6, 2021.

However, the 76-year-old Trump said he would continue to use his own social media platform Truth Social instead of Twitter.

Musk also said on Friday night that he was “fine with Trump not tweeting” after having his account reinstated last weekend. “The important thing is that Twitter correct a grave mistake in banning his account, despite no violation of the law or terms of service. Deplatforming a sitting president undermined public trust in Twitter for half of America.”

DeSantis, 44, was re-elected Governor of Florida with 59 percent of the vote in the midterm elections held on November 8. With this success, he stood out as the rising star of the Republican Party and showed that Trump could not easily become a presidential candidate.

DeSantis, who was welcomed like a “rock star” at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s annual meeting on November 19-20, said, “Florida shows that there is a way out of the disaster that our country has been experiencing for two years.”

Trump, on the other hand, argued that DeSantis’ candidacy would lead to conflicts within the party and said, “If he runs, he will make a mistake.”
