President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held consecutive phone calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian leader Volodomir Zelenski. President Erdoğan reportedly thanked Putin and Zelenski for their constructive stance on the extension of the Istanbul Agreement on grain exports for 120 days.
According to the statement made by the Presidential Communications Directorate, the developments regarding the Russia-Ukraine war and the grain corridor were discussed during the meeting. President Erdoğan thanked President Zelenski for his constructive attitude towards the extension of the Istanbul Agreement on grain exports. President Erdoğan stated that positive experiences were gained with the grain agreement and prisoner exchange and that it would be in the interest of everyone to extend this understanding to the negotiation track, especially the ceasefire. President Erdoğan also thanked President Zelenski for his condolences for the terrorist attack in Istanbul.
ERDOĞAN THANKS PUTIN
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to the statement released by the Presidential Communications Directorate, regional issues, especially Turkey-Russia relations and developments regarding the grain corridor, were discussed during the call.
President Erdoğan thanked Russian President Putin for his constructive stance on the extension of the Istanbul Agreement on grain exports for 120 days.
Stating that the prolongation of the Russia-Ukraine war would increase the risks and therefore diplomatic talks should be revived, President Erdoğan said that the contacts between the Russian and American intelligence chiefs in Turkey played a key role in preventing an uncontrolled escalation on the ground.
NATURAL GAS CENTER PROPOSAL
Expressing their satisfaction with Russian President Putin’s proposal to establish a natural gas hub in Turkey, President Erdoğan said that the teams will make the necessary technical, legal and commercial evaluations to achieve common goals as soon as possible.
President Erdoğan also thanked Russian President PUTIN for his condolences for the terrorist attack in Istanbul.
