A fire caused by a stove broke out in an apartment building where foreign nationals stayed in central Yıldırım district of Bursa last night. 9 people including 8 children died in the fire.
It is learned that the family, who were poisoned by carbon monoxide gas due to the chimney being blocked, moved to the house where the fire broke out 3 months ago. Speaking at the funeral ceremony, the grieving father said ‘It was the first day I installed the stove. I put the stove on and left. It hadn’t been 5-6 hours yet. There was heavy smoke in the house. I fainted, I was taken to the hospital. I have no one left. Everyone left, I was the only one left.
According to the information received, a fire broke out on the first floor of a 4-storey building in Değirmenönü Neighborhood Şehitler Street on the outskirts of Uludağ at around 23.52. In the neighborhood where the air temperature was 7 degrees, teams from Mimar Sinan and Kestel points of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department intervened in the fire caused by the stove.
When the fire brigade teams entered inside, they encountered the lifeless bodies of 9 people, including 8 children of Syrian nationality. 112 ambulance, criminal and public order teams, AFAD teams were dispatched to the scene. 112 teams hospitalized the father and the Syrian family of 3 upstairs who were poisoned while trying to extinguish the fire.
IDENTITIES REVEALED
Mother Amine El Cesim (30) and children Ahmet El Cesim (10), Ali El Cesim (10), Mohammad El Cesim (3), Yasir El Cesim (2), Ahmet El Cesim (6), Garam El Cesim (8), Maram El Cesim (10), Ali El Cesim (10) lost their lives, while the father Hüseyin El Cesim and the neighboring family of 3 were taken to the hospital. The father, whose treatment was completed, was discharged and taken to the police station for statement.
