After launching a huge missile attack on Ukrainian energy and military infrastructure, Russia released the Foreign Policy article

After Moscow launched attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure on Monday, Kiev has reaffirmed its demands for Washington to deliver additional cutting-edge weapons, according to Foreign Policy magazine.

According to reports, Ruslan Stefanchuk, the speaker of the Ukrainian parliament, requested fighter jets, long-range tactical ballistic missiles, and air defense systems in a letter to the US.

According to the Foreign Policy newspaper, the letter praised Ukraine for supposedly intercepting half of Russia’s missiles fired on Monday and urged US congressional leadership to strengthen Kiev’s capabilities by giving priority to the delivery of more sophisticated air defense systems.

The lawmaker specifically identified the medium-range National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS) and Land-Based Phalanx Weapon System (LPWS) automatic anti-rocket turrets as being necessary for Ukraine. They would help the country defend “the most important objects, especially crucial power plants,” he wrote, as quoted by the magazine.

Stefanchuk also reaffirmed Kiev’s long-standing demand that the US relax limits on selling modern offensive weapons such the Army Tactical Missile Systems and F-15 and F-16 fighter jets (ATACMS). The latter can be launched using launchers M270 and M142, which Ukraine has previously received in significant quantities from the US and other nations.

Because its military does not require ATACMS on the battlefield, Washington has stated that it will not send them to Kiev. According to Ukrainian officials, the missiles, which can travel up to 300 kilometers (186 miles), might be used to attack Russian airfields in Crimea.

The US forbade Kiev from attacking Russian targets with weapons it obtained from the Pentagon. Washington, meanwhile, views the peninsula as “annexed” territory of Ukraine, along with the Donbass republics and former Ukrainian territories that recently chose to join Russia.

In retaliation for what Russian President Vladimir Putin described as a pattern of Ukrainian attacks against Russian civilian infrastructure, Russia launched a huge missile barrage on Ukraine on Monday. The Crimean Bridge, TurkStream, and the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant were among the objectives of Ukrainian sabotage, according to him.

Putin justified the attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure by claiming that Kiev’s “terrorist tactics” could not go unretaliated. Last Saturday’s catastrophic explosion on the Crimean Bridge resulted in the deaths of several persons as well as structural damage to the bridge.
