It was reported that at least 2 people were killed and many people, including police officers, were wounded in the city of Zahedan in southeastern Iran as a result of gunfire opened during a demonstration organized after Friday prayers.
Iran’s official news agency IRNA reported the news with the words, “A large number of terrorists attacked a police station in Zahedan.”
According to IRNA, unidentified gunmen threw a large number of Molotov cocktails at the police station, which they opened fire.
The report said that before the attack, some people attacked the police station after Mawlawi Abdulhamid Ismailzehi, the Friday Imam of the Sunni Mekki Masjid in the city, mentioned during his Friday sermon that a 15-year-old girl was sexually abused by a security guard, and one person tried to destroy the wall of the police station by hitting it with a bus.
Many people, including police officers, were injured in the attack.
The semi-official Fars News Agency also reported that unidentified people opened fire at demonstrators gathered on Razi Street near a Sunni mosque and a police station in Zahedan.
It was stated that at least 2 people were killed and dozens of people were wounded.
During the incidents, a public building, a fire truck and a bank branch were set on fire.
In the images published on social media, it was seen that the people attacking the police station were fired upon and many people were wounded.
