Kremlin Spokesperson Peskov stated that Turkey is an important partner for Russia and said, “Turkey is undoubtedly a friendly country for us. Turkey is a very important partner for us in terms of international politics, political issues, trade and economic cooperation.”

Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov made evaluations on Russia-Turkey relations in an interview with Izvestiya newspaper.

Emphasizing that Russia sees Turkey as an important partner, Peskov said, “Turkey is undoubtedly a friendly country for us. Turkey is a very important partner for us in terms of international politics, political issues, trade and economic cooperation.”

“Turkey conducts its own sovereign independent policy”

Peskov pointed out that Turkey did not participate in the sanctions against Russia and said, “Turkey did not participate in the illegal anti-Russian sanctions and is conducting its own sovereign independent policy. Russia and Turkey have enormous potential in cooperation on political and economic issues.”

Putin praises Turkey for “grain”

Peskov said there is still a lot of room for the full realization of this potential, adding that Turkey and Russia conduct bilateral relations based on the principles of mutual respect and mutual benefit.

Peskov added that Russian President Vladimir Putin also praised Turkey’s mediation efforts on Ukraine, including on grain.
