According to reports, Volkswagen is getting ready to sell its operations here.
According to two significant Russian media agencies, Vedomosti and Gazeta.ru, the Volkswagen Group, the second-largest automaker in the world, has apparently chosen to sell its operations in Russia and is aggressively seeking for a buyer.

Asia Avto of Kazakhstan has been mentioned as a prospective bidder for the automaker’s sole facility in Russia. A group from Austria reportedly paid a visit to the facility in the central Russian city of Kaluga. Vedomosti reports that Volkswagen anticipates making a decision about the sale by the end of this year. Asia Avto has a license to manufacture Volkswagen and Skoda vehicles.
Early in March, the German manufacturer halted manufacturing in Kaluga owing to logistical chain hiccups brought on by international sanctions against Russia. Additionally, the import of automobiles and components into Russia was halted. A Russian producer of commercial vehicles’ Nizhny Novgorod plant’s vehicle assembly was also put on hold by the firm.
Volkswagen said at the end of May that it will not soon begin making cars in Russia.
The factory in Kaluga built the Volkswagen Tiguan, Volkswagen Polo, and koda Rapid automobiles, and it has a maximum annual production capacity of 225,000 vehicles.
