Indian Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann visited the town of Sultanpur Lodhi to celebrate the 22nd anniversary of the purification of the holy Kali Bein River. Chief Minister Mann drank a glass of water from the river at a ceremony held to mark the anniversary to show that the water was still clean enough to drink. Two days after the incident on July 19, Mann reportedly fell ill at his official residence in Chandigarh and was taken to a hospital in Delhi complaining of abdominal pain. Prime Minister Mann, who was treated, was later discharged.
