President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Iranian President Ibrahim Reisi held a joint press conference after the 7th Meeting of the Turkey-Iran High Level Cooperation Council.
Stating that the consultations between the two countries will give a new impetus to the relations, Erdoğan said, “We have a target of reaching a trade volume of 30 billion dollars. As of now, we have reached 7.5 billion dollars, I believe that we will reach this target with the determined march of the two countries.”
“It is possible to accelerate this process with the steps we will take in the field of defense industry,” Erdoğan said, adding, “This is also possible with the steps to be taken in both oil and natural gas. As Turkey, we have made significant progress in recent years, especially in the field of defense. I attach great importance to our solidarity in this field.”

In his speech, Erdoğan also emphasized the fight against terrorism and said the following:
“Our fight against terrorism is of great importance. PKK, PYD, YPG, FETO terrorist organizations are a serious problem for both countries. As you know, we have now included them in the NATO agreement. These are organizations that disturb the peace of any country. Therefore, we need to continue a struggle in solidarity. Today, as the Astana trio, we will come together with Putin and Reisi and discuss the latest developments. This will be a re-evaluation and revitalization of the Astana process.”

Iranian President Reisi also made statements at the press conference.
Stating that Erdogan’s visit will be an important turning point in the relations between the two countries, Reisi said, “In our talks and meetings, we discussed many issues, especially the economic and trade relations of the two countries. We have set a figure of 30 billion dollars, and this means that the current trade volume will be tripled.”
In his speech, Reisi also emphasized the importance of cooperation in the field of security:
Cooperation in the field of security is very important, it was one of the issues we discussed at the meeting. The fight against terrorism, drugs and organized crime was discussed. Terrorists and terrorist organizations may have different names, but whoever endangers the security of our peoples and borders is a terrorist and must be fought. Regional issues were also discussed at our meeting. Both sides emphasized the protection of the territorial integrity of Syria.
