According to The Guardian newspaper, New Zealand’s budget for the new financial year will be announced today.

Ardern traditionally had breakfast with Finance Minister Grant Robertson on the morning of the day the budget was to be announced, often featuring New Zealand’s famous cheese rolls.

The prime minister had breakfast with Robertson via Instagram Live this year due to his coronavirus infection.

The Prime Minister and the Minister ate cheese rolls together as usual.

Ardern said: “The flavours of the cheese rolls are the same as ever. But I won’t know because I’ve lost all my sense of taste.”

The finance minister replied, “This time, try to focus on texture instead of taste.”

A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office last week said Ardern had tested positive for coronavirus and would remain in home quarantine for seven days showing moderate symptoms.

New Zealand implemented the strictest measures to combat the pandemic in 2020. While 892 people have lost their lives so far due to the coronavirus in the country, this has been one of the lowest loss of life due to the coronavirus among the developed countries.
