In France, the post of prime minister, which became vacant after the resignation of Jean Castex, was replaced by the current Minister of Labour, Elisabeth Borne. A statement from the Elysee Palace said the 61-year-old Borne had been appointed Prime Minister and tasked with forming the new government.
During Macron’s first term in office, Borne served as Minister of Transport (2017-2019), Minister of Ecology (2019-2020) and Minister of Labour (2020-2022), respectively.
