The CineSpace short film competition, organized annually by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) and the Houston Motion Picture Arts Association, is taking place again this year. The winner of the competition, which can be attended by everyone, whether experienced or novice, without any experience requirement, will be the winner of the grand prize.
You must be 18 years of age or older to apply. People under the age of 18 will be able to participate with the signature of their parent or guardian. There is also a second condition: that the film must be in English. Films in different languages are also accepted, but a copy with English subtitles must be submitted before they can be reviewed.

The best short film winner will earn $ 10,000
The announcement made on the competition’s website included the following statements:
“NASA and the Houston Motion Picture Arts Association are once again coming together to host the annual CineSpace Short Film Competition. It invites filmmakers, editors and animators from around the world to explore NASA’s digital archives and create short films inspired by and pieced together by real NASA imagery.”

Applications for the competition will be open until July 15, 2022. The films will be judged on the basis of their creativity, innovation and attention to detail, which are the hallmarks of space. In addition, its duration should not exceed 10 minutes and at least 10 percent of the images in NASA’s archive are required to be used.
The top 3 participants will receive the big prizes.
First Prize: USD 10,000
Second Prize: USD 5,000
Third Prize: USD 3,000
Competition terms
It can include graphics, music, and other production elements found on YouTube. To use NASA-owned imagery on YouTube, it must be cleaned of third-party material (i.e., non-NASA content).
As long as any third-party material you use is properly licensed, you can modify and edit NASA imagery and add special effects and graphics.
You can adapt an older short film you’re working on, but your video must be created after January 1, 2020.
If your film is in a language other than English, a review copy of your work should be subtitled in English. If you are selected as a Finalist to be shown at the Houston Festival of the Motion Picture Arts, you will need to submit the 1080p version without subtitles and provide transcripts with English subtitles or SRT file with English subtitles.
There is no fee required to enter CineSpace. You can submit up to 5 short films!
If you are under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must submit and sign all paperwork on your behalf.
