US President Joe Biden approved the $ 1.9 trillion economic support package to combat the effects of the new type of corona virus (Covid-19) epidemic that passed Congress.
In his speech before signing the package at the Oval Office, Biden emphasized that this package is supported by many groups in the USA.
Stating that he will make a speech to the Nation tonight, Biden said, “With this historical bill we have approved, we must rebuild the backbone of our country and we aim to give the people who created this country a chance to fight.”
Biden then signed the incentive package in question.
WEEKEND APPROVED IN SENATO
The $ 1.9 trillion economic support package, which has long been one of the most important agenda items in the US, was accepted by the House of Representatives on February 27.
After long negotiations, the bill, which was approved by the Senate on March 6, was passed by the Senate without the need for the support of the Republicans with a legal arrangement called “compromise”.
The bill was sent back to the House of Representatives for final voting due to the arrangements made on it. The House of Representatives approved the package on March 10 and sent it for Biden’s signature.
DIRECT CASH ASSISTANCE OF 1400 DOLLARS
The bill, which is described as the biggest package that the Biden administration has worked on against the economic effects of Covid-19, includes unemployment benefits, support for state and local governments and regulations for the distribution of vaccines, as well as direct cash assistance.
Under the economic support package, it is envisaged to provide direct cash assistance of $ 1400 to individuals who earn less than $ 75,000 a year.
With the package, the unemployment benefits expiring on March 14 will be extended until September 6, while the weekly unemployment benefit is planned to be $ 300.
The package, in which 350 billion dollars of funds are allocated for state and local governments, includes vaccine distribution, Covid-19 test, rent aid and financial support for schools.
