Stein’s spokesperson spoke to the US media about the detention.
Stein, a Green Party candidate for the presidential elections, and her campaign manager and aide were also detained, the spokesperson said.
“Stein’s campaign supports the students’ demands and peaceful demonstrations,” the spokesperson said, noting that demonstrators at Washington University in St. Louis called for the university to cut its investments in Boeing, which currently supplies munitions for the “genocide” against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
In addition to Stein, police reportedly detained more than 100 people during a raid on protest camps at the University of Washington.
In the footage shared on social media, armored police are seen riding a bicycle over Stein and trying to block the presidential candidate.
The police, who intervened harshly, also put protesters on the ground and handcuffed them behind their backs.
