According to a statement released by the Kenyan Presidency, Chief of Staff Ogolla and 10 military personnel died in the accident, while 2 soldiers escaped with injuries.

President William Ruto said at a press conference that the helicopter crashed shortly after taking off, emphasizing that they were deeply saddened for the casualties.

The crash occurred at 14.20 local time, Ruto said, adding that the Kenya Air Force had sent an air investigation team to the scene to determine the cause of the crash.

President Ruto announced 3 days of national mourning across the country due to the accident.
