Xiaomi's electric vehicle SU7 upset the company's plans with its success

Xiaomi, which entered the electric car market with the SU7 model, decided to triple its production capacity to meet the huge demand.

How successful are you when all your plans are interrupted by your success? Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi may have something to say about this. The SU7, the company’s first electric car, managed to upset all the plans of the manufacturer company thanks to the great interest it attracted with its debut.

The Chinese manufacturer, which originally planned to produce 3000 vehicles per month and gradually increase this number to 6000 towards the end of the year, has thrown all plans aside in order to keep up with the demand and announced that it has increased its production capacity to 10 thousand cars per month. The production process will focus especially on high-end variants.

Delivery time could take up to 7 months

In a statement made by Xiaomi Motors, it was stated that production is not at a sufficient level and that the company is “doing its best to increase production capacity to speed up deliveries”. Currently, there is a waiting period between 19 weeks and 32 weeks for the delivery of SU7 models. This corresponds to roughly 7 months for those who will wait the longest.

Xiaomi’s electric vehicle managed to reach a huge sales figure of 88,898 units in just the first 24 hours. This was also reflected on the Hong Kong stock exchange and the company’s shares saw a 15% increase. Xiaomi, acting with the motto “People X Car X Home”, has made a promising start in the automotive industry.
