April Fools' Day prank Porsche mocks the famous brand

In its latest Instagram Reels in honor of April 1st, luxury car brand Porsche has joined the trend of making fun of Hailey Bieber’s controversial Rhode Beauty phone cases with its own version.

Porsche’s version of the phone case, in a gray color similar to Rhode Beauty‘s phone case, features the brand’s logo as well as a similar compartment to hold items. But instead of Bieber’s popular lip balm, this case holds car keys.

Porsche wrote in the description of the video:

Phone, wallet, keys? No more! With the Porsche Key Phone Case, you have one less thing to think about when rushing out the door. Combining fashion and functionality, this product is the must-have accessory of the season. Don’t you agree, @haileybieber?

Internet users found the April Fool’s Day ad hilarious, with some even noting that these phone cases would be really handy for people prone to losing their keys.

“I know this is an April Fool’s joke but it’s really useful,” one person wrote.

I always lose my keys in my purse because I don’t want key rings to hit my knee when I’m driving.

Someone else pointed out that this kind of phone case can make it easier to get both your keys and your phone stolen.

“So they steal your iPhone and your car at the same time,” wrote one user, while another added, “If someone steals that phone, it’s two in one.”

Others jokingly praised Hailey Bieber’s influence.

One user commented, “Hailey Bieber you are the trendsetter”. Another wrote, “Hailey Bieber you are an icon”.

“Her influence transcends all genders, brands and price ranges,” another user added, noting that the sauce brand Heinz has also made fun of Rhode Beauty phone cases.

From ketchup to luxury cars, whatever Hailey does, everyone follows.

It’s not the first time Porsche has played an April Fool’s joke and it certainly won’t be the last. In 2021, the luxury car brand released a two-and-a-half-minute YouTube video titled “Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur & Porsche Classic Presents: An Example of Patina Paint”, a two-and-a-half-minute YouTube video. The video was based on the idea that, unlike restoration, which is the more common practice of giving old cars a new lease of life, owners of new models wanted to learn how to age their cars by turning them into rusty junk.

At the time, this trick fooled a few viewers, as the YouTube video contained a very serious description of the new paint option.

We are pleased to introduce the latest paint technology to make our Patina Paint Sample offering a reality.
