Instagram is working on a new feature where you can view your friends’ locations on a world map.
Users who share their location will see where they are on the map.
The platform will also allow you to leave notes on the map.
Instagram’s new Friend Map feature is very similar to Snapchat’s map feature.
Friend Map will allow you to choose which friends can see your location and Ghost Mode will allow users to hide their location if they wish.
In addition, users’ location will only be updated when Instagram is opened.
There is currently no information on when Meta plans to launch the Friends Map.
However, judging by the leaked screenshots, the development of the feature seems to be complete.
Instagram last copied Snapchat’s stories feature in 2016.
Instagram is also reportedly working on a “Friends Nearby” feature.
According to the new feature, you will be able to see where your nearby friends are in real time.
Likewise, they will have access to your location.
It was known that Snapchat has been using the map feature since 2017.
With this feature, users could instantly view where their friends were.
Instagram had previously launched Snapchat’s story sharing feature.
