Stating that China is “determined to dominate the auto market through unfair means,” Biden said, “China’s policies could flood our market with its own cars. This poses a risk to our national security. I will not allow such a thing to happen.”
Biden noted that he had instructed the Commerce Department to investigate vehicles with technology from countries “causing concern” such as China and to take the necessary measures.
In another statement, the White House said Chinese “smart cars” could cause new vulnerabilities and threats if they access data.
