Last Words of Canadian Mass Killer Revealed in Coroner’s Inquest

Myles Sanderson, responsible for a stabbing spree in Canada in 2022, uttered his final words during a coroner’s inquest into his in-custody death. Sanderson told arresting officers, “You guys should have shot me, man,” using an expletive, before stating, “I’m ready to die now,” as reported by Canadian media.

Sanderson’s death was attributed to an acute cocaine overdose. His arrest followed a high-speed chase after a massive manhunt stemming from the stabbings that occurred over Canada’s Labour Day weekend in 2022 in the province of Saskatchewan.

Ten victims, including his brother Damien Sanderson, were from the James Smith Cree Nation, with one victim from the nearby community of Weldon. Seventeen people were injured during the rampage.

Sanderson was apprehended after a three-day search, stopped while driving a stolen truck at high speeds, and forced into a ditch on the side of the motorway by police.

During his arrest, it became evident that Sanderson needed medical attention, with a paramedic arriving on the scene within minutes. Sanderson was hospitalized within an hour but was declared dead shortly after.

According to witness testimony at the inquest, there was no evidence that police actions contributed to Sanderson’s death.

The motive behind the mass killings remains unclear, although police stated that Myles and Damien spent days drinking, dealing drugs, and stealing cars before the spree began.

Sanderson’s prior criminal history included 59 convictions, and he was released on parole in February 2022 while serving a four-year sentence.

A public inquiry earlier revealed that Sanderson targeted some victims over personal grievances, while others were caught in the rampage indiscriminately.
