Canadian Police official Eric Stubbs made statements regarding a murder in the capital Ottawa.
Stubbs stated that the 19-year-old Sri Lankan attacker killed 6 people with a “sharp weapon” and that the attack was “the worst murder in Ottawa‘s history”.
Stubbs said the attacker, who is believed to have been a student in Canada, was arrested and charged with six counts of first-degree murder and attempted murder.
The attacker also killed a 35-year-old Sri Lankan woman and her 4 children, including a 2-month-old baby, and a person who was at home at the time of the incident, the police official said.
BBC reported that the attacker lived in the same house as the victims.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, in a statement to the press on the issue, noted that the incident was “inconceivable” and said, “Obviously, the first reaction of all of us to this terrible violence was shock and horror.”
